Hi, I’m Ellis. Let me tell you a little about myself and what I do.
See examples of my work
I’ve always surrounded myself with unusual, slightly imperfect objects and things: kitsch ceramics, dog-eared Cold War posters, my grandmother’s mid-century paperweights…
It’s their irregularities, tactile surfaces, slight asymmetries, or (more than anything) their sense-of-story that gives character and evokes an emotional response or feeling.
I strive to make pieces with such character: statement pieces to enliven a room, garden or space.
My work blends traditional craftmanship with bold forms and details, reflecting a love of nature, prehistory, mythology and folklore. I embrace asymmetricity, rugged elemental features and textured touchable surfaces.
Handcrafted with patience, purpose and care from sustainable timber, every item I make is a conscious rejection of throwaway “fast” consumption. Made to be used, loved, and passed on to those that follow after.
If you’d like a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or sculpture for your home, or simply want to talk through an idea, then please get in touch via the contact page.
‘All the objects we make are inscriptions of the human body and mind upon the circumstances of time and space.’
– John A. Fleming
